Apply for the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program
A program of AIA Georgia, the Christopher Kelley Leadership Development Program (CKLDP) aims to train the next generation of leaders in architecture through a series of eight sessions. This past year, CKLDP participants engaged in classes on risk management, equity and diversity, business development, civic leadership and involvement, political advocacy, practice management, project financing, and more. Speakers and facilitators included (among others), the Georgia Secretary of State, executives from Invest Atlanta and Portman Holdings, state Senators and Representatives, the mayors of Chamblee and Columbus, managing partners from numerous firms in Georgia, AIA’s national leader on equity and diversity, a professional lobbyist, the head of permitting and codes from Columbus, and Jim Cramer (a past AIA National executive director).
Applicants to the CKLDP program do not have to be licensed. However, they must have at least 2 years experience working in the A\E\C industry and cannot be more than 10 years removed since achieving first licensure in architecture. The strongest candidates will have been given some leadership opportunities at their firms, and have demonstrated leadership roles through industry, school, religious, civic, or other volunteer positions. Tuition is $500 for AIA members, more for non-members, and some financial assistance is available.
You can find out more about the program at the link below. And AIA Georgia is holding an information session for potential candidates, firm leaders, and anyone else interested in the program on June 20, at 6 pm at the offices of AIA Georgia (50 Hurt Plaza, Suite 109). The event will be live streamed for those outside of metro Atlanta.
