We are also especially proud to highlight both of these accomplished women during AAPI Heritage Month! Come join us as we sit down with Ami and Julie for coffee, conversation, and community.
Ami Shah (Principal & Senior Lab Planner, HOK)
Ami is a principal and senior lab planner in HOK’s Atlanta studio. Part of HOK’s Science + Technology group, she provides lab programming, planning and design services for academic, commercial, institutional and governmental clients. She is an expert at medical education programming for health sciences education facilities. Ami is passionate about diversity and inclusion. She serves on HOK’s Diversity Advisory Council and has collaborated with team members on HOK’s firmwide employee opportunity surveys and the firm’s Diversity x Design scholarships for BIPOC and minority design students.
Julie Ju-Youn Kim (Associate Professor & Director of the Flourishing Communities Collaborative, Georgia Tech School of Architecture)
Julie Ju-Youn Kim, RA, AIA is an Associate Professor in the School of Architecture at Georgia Institute of Technology and founder and principal of c2architecturestudio, an award-winning architectural practice. At Georgia Tech, she is the Director of the Flourishing Communities Collaborative, an Academic Research Lab that endeavors to educate, advocate and offer design solutions to neighborhoods who are traditionally under-resourced and underserved by the design disciplines. Her current project, the recipient of the highest award offered by the Public Interest Technology University Network, is researching methods to bring affordable design and sustainable technologies to the Westside Neighborhood – English Avenue.
